I'm GRATEFUL... Hope you are too!!

Good morning WwISE family!!!

With Thanksgiving fast approaching this week many families will be sharing in a time of thanks.

With all of the recent events that have affected millions (Hurricane Sandy in particular, which ravaged several areas of NYC and New Jersey) I think this is an appropriate time to take a moment and express gratitude for the precious PEOPLE we have in our lives.

Both Tiff and I wanted to share our expressions of gratitude and appreciation for the things that matter most in our lives. As both mothers and wives, we tend to get caught up in our every daily routines but we always remember what this life we have is all about and for us it's FAMILY.

We wish to extend that same philosophy with WwISE.... For all those WISE WOMEN/Girls/Sistas out there, we encourage you all to be someone who can INSPIRESTRENGTHEN and ENCOURAGE the next person in need.

We hope everyone has a great holiday! Check back in with us in the upcoming weeks for brand new and exciting challenges and WwISE expressions.

WwISE ALLEGIANCE

I know I am a bit late but here is my creation.  I was inspired by the our recent election on how Michelle Obama stood up for her husband at the Democratic National Convention.

For those who missed it check it our here:  Michelle Obama Speech DNC 2012

So in accordance with my WwISE BLOG...Women who Inspire, Strengthen  Inspire and Encourage/Empower

I created this piece as the Allegiance.

It reads:

"This is my Passion...Women will always be worth the extra effort...BELIEVE"!

 Hope you enjoy...

Be WwISE...Every Vote Counts...

My fellow WwISE Ones,
Hey it's Tiff.  Today is election day.  I hope everyone performed their civic duty.  I know I did.  Do you know today in 1873 Susan B. Anthony was fined $100 for trying to vote.   Isn't that motivation for us women to get out there and vote?

Susan B. Anthony is definitely a WwISE One!

This has inspired me to create a piece.  Maybe I will post it tomorrow.  I will use the rest of the night to brainstorm.

Please feel free to post any thoughts or creative pieces if you feel inspired.

You can post all art work here on Flickr

November Challenge Piece

So as promised her is my November piece as a dedication to Qiu Jin.
WwISE Jia (Jia mean beautiful)

I created a faux stained glass piece using a glue gun on a black gesso'ed canvas board.  Her hair was made from celluclay and her robe was made using plaster gauze.  The sword handles (on her back) were made out of cork board.

I enjoyed making this piece because I also learned alot about Qiu Jin in addition I got to experiment with many mediums.

HEY WWISE Ones!!!
My name is Tiffany and I would like to start off by welcoming you to our blog.

WWise Art is a local group started by myself and Janise Williams.

WWise stands for Women who inspire, strengthen and empower/encourage.

Our purpose is to celebrate our women in history through creative art. These women may not necessarily be world-renowned. She could be your mother, your aunt, teacher or even yourself, but we want you to use them and the positive things they have done to inspire you to create something beautiful to share with others

We hope to have users follow us on this journey and participate in creating pieces that will exemplify, dignify and motivate others.

Janise and I are self taught mixed media artist. We welcome arts of all kinds: creative writing, photography, musical/lyrical. Please feel free to post here and share with your friends.

We will have monthly challenges focusing on various individuals. We will also post tutorials and provide access to our online workshops which you may purchase.
